One of several University of California, San Francisco, locations offering medical care, Mount Zion Hospital treated its first patient in 1897. Recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for its excellence in patient care and overall nursing practices, Mount Zion includes the Department of General Internal Medicine, a women’s health center, the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, and other areas related to ambulatory care.
Mount Zion also contains the UCSF Patient Health Library, which opened in 2009, including to the public. With resources including an on-site professional medical librarian, the library also offers research information and medical information education, as well as access to medical books, journals, and trustworthy Internet sources.
